The first day proofed to be very unlucky for Malta's men team participating in the World Pool Championships being held in Blackpool.

In the first game Malta surrendered to Wales 11-10.  The second game saw the Maltese side losing with the same score against Australia.

Malta will once again be in action on Monday with four games.
