The Malta Pool Association revelead the new selection system of the national team players that will be representing Malta in the international events between January and July 2010.

Malta has confirmed participation in the European Championships being held in Daventry, England, between the 14th and  20th February, and in the World Championships being held in Blackpool, England, between the 27th June and 9th July.  Besides these two major events pool sports should also be included in next year's edition of Friendship Tournament between Malta and Sicily.

The association will be organising four ranking tournaments during this season.  The winners of every tournament will automatically win a place in the national team that will represent Malta in both the European & World Championships.  All fees and expenses for these four players will be paid for by the Malta Pool Association.  At the end of Ranking Tournament 4, scheduled in December, the top two ranked players will join the four tournaments' winners to complete the national team participating in the European Championships. 

A qualifier tournament is scheduled in March. The two finalists will join the six players from the European Team and will represent Malta in the World Championships.

Also in March the association will be holding the Individual Grand Finals.  The winners of the four ranking tournaments together with the top ranked four players will be play in a knockout basis tournament to determine the national champion.
